Campaigns
Campaigns are one way Friends of Vineyard Forests applies its Island-wide mission to consequential decisions affecting trees, forests, habitats, and public lands.
FVF’s approach is to ask what evidence supports a proposal, whether its scale is proportional to its goal, what alternatives were studied, how the public can participate, what cumulative effects are expected, and what restoration and monitoring will follow.
The Correllus State Forest
A Forest Under Pressure
Correllus is FVF’s origin story and first campaign.
Community concern about proposed tree removal in the Manuel F. Correllus State Forest helped bring people together around questions that extend beyond one forest: how the Island values mature trees, how major removal decisions are evaluated, and how evidence, alternatives, public participation, restoration, and accountability should shape those decisions.
The Correllus campaign remains important, but FVF’s mission extends across Martha’s Vineyard.

Support the Vineyard’s trees and forests by learning about the issues, signing the White Pines petition, sharing reliable information, contacting FVF, or helping build the organization’s capacity for research, education, outreach, and responsible conservation advocacy.
